2024-06-08: Fucking Monkey!
Session #9
Five players for D&D tonight.
Recap
We picked up right where we left off the previous week.
The party has just returned to the Rusty Hook from the Bloodsalt. As they enter the Inn the proprietor Jane indicates the man in the corner has been waiting to see them.
In the corner is a finely dressed, graying, dark haired man sitting in a comfortable chair leaning forward on his silver handled cane. When the party approaches him he introduces himself as Walz Volcain and invites them to have dinner so that he may discuss matters of interest to his employer.
He reveals to the party that he knows they’re outsiders and that his employer is interested to know about the world they come from. He’s been tracking what information he can about the storms to learn more about how they work. The party inquires about his employer but he refrains from revealing any details beyond the fact that he also is an outsider. The party decides they’d like to have this discussion in a more discreet location and agrees to meet him at his office in Old Town the following day.
The next morning Nell introduces Sabin to another street urchin who tells him that Flick has sent his chief enforcer, Ubaid to kill them.
Sabin uses what contacts he has to investigate Walz but only gets a vague idea that he may be a lawyer or realtor and that his office has been in business for many years.
When the party arrives at Walz office they are invited into a conference room where they’re asked to detail some basic information about their world. The party negates a 1gp per member payment. He asks about geography, customs, folklore, religions and takes notes of all the details.
After paying the party he indicates his master would like to engage their services to investigate a building.
Eric instantly noticed the slip in reference, when Walz refered to his employer as his master.
Walz indicates that his employer would like them to investigate a property and simply relay back to him what they find. He offers no payments but indicates it’s vital that no one who is aware of their activity can survive and that they are free to keep any valuables.
Walz indicates they don’t know the location of the property but if they track down a one armed former pirate known as Rava they will be able to follow him back to the residence. They are told that Ravi often frequents Sapper Hill. A literal, underground pirate community, that had sprung up in the tunnels dug beneath the West Keep during a previous war.
Asmodean sets up a watch just off the trail near Sapper Hill. He eventually sees Ravi and his four armed pet monkey enter the tunnels. He attempts to tail him but gets distracted by a fortune teller who indicates he will soon come into a great fortune and have a long life.
Asmodean ducks out to tell the party he located Ravi but as he does so they see Ravi leave the tunnels, walking north west, to the outskirts of the city. They follow him.
They eventually arrive at a small plantation home. It’s late at night and only a few lights seemed to be lit. There’s no movement in the house. They sneak over the wall and approach the house from the year.
Foster takes up position at the rear door. Andy goes around the front. Asmodean, Ahndahn and Sabin prepare to enter through a second story window in the year.
Asmodean is first in but he loses his grip and flops through the window making enough noise to wake the occupant just as Ahnhan comes through the window attacking him with a chakrum.
The commotion alerts the monkey who comes down the hall. When he sees the party it starts to squeal alerting the entire house.
Sabin ends up going in at the ground floor with Foster at the rear and Andy goes through the door in the front.
They quickly work through the house’s occupants one at a time.
In the end Foster knocks out Ravi but as he does so the monkey jumps through the second story window and escapes.
Sabin and Ahndahn search the basement and find a captive tied to a post who is clearly not human. The captive is skinny, almost emaciated looking. It has yellowish skin, large pointed ears and a button nose. It’s unclear if it’s male or female. It’s dressed in a robe with unfamiliar adornment and speaks with an incredibly thick accent.
We’ll pick up here next week.
