2024-07-13: Enter the Jungle

The party heads into the jungle and sabotages the Xoth ships.

Recap

We pick up with the Green Star anchoring in a cove at their destination. The party immediately follows their map. While following the river to the first bridge marked on the map they see two native women, one carrying a small jungle deer walking north in the shallow part of the river. The party avoids them.

The party continues until they cross the bridge. They hear a bunch of children on the trail. They try to avoid them but Sabin clumsily trips over a branch. The children run off. Before long the group finds themselves surrounded as a group of naked tattooed women slowly stepping out of the forest to confront them.

Andy steps up to greet them. With no common language it takes a while but things go well. The party is invited back to the village. They are introduced to the village matriarch who is accompanied by two extremely large black panthers. They see no men. Just the adult women and female children.

The group succeeds in communicating their purpose and that a second, dangerous group (the Xoth ships) will be coming later. The Matriarch confiscates the groups map and makes it clear that they must depart back where they came from the next day.

The group returns to the coast in the morning. They direct the Green Star to move to the opposite side of the island, to avoid being seen by the Xoth ships. They make a camp and wait for the Xoth explorers to arrive.

When the ships arrive, most of the sailors put ashore and set up a camp on the beach. The party waits until night then rows out to the ships, sneaks on board the first and dispatches the guard and locks the remaining crew below deck. Ahndahn stays on the first ship while the others sneak aboard the second ship, repeating the process. Once everyone is in position they set both ships on fire.

The crew from shore in a panic scrambles and puts their three row boats into the water to save the ships. The party charges straight at them in their row boat. Two row boats move to avoid the party and one intercepts. Sabin jumps on board their boat and capsizes it and as he does walks around it’s hull to remain on top.

With the ships ablaze and the Xoth sailors busy putting out fires the party rows out of the cove then puts ashore in a hidden location.

The party decides to head back inland but to avoid the villagers this time. They give them a wide berth and arrive at a guarded bridge over a gorge. They decide to climb down and back up the gorge instead of fighting to gain access to the bridge.
